Metal Gear REX

This is a model of Metal Gear REX from Metal Gear Solid made from 1/16” and 1/32” balsa sheets. I made this shortly after the Grizzly Tank model, but this was a much more challenging project in comparison. The geometry of REX is pretty complex, with a lot of individual components with surfaces at non-right angles. In addition, I did my best to build in as much articulation as possible:

• Mouth / cockpit can open and close
• Head and legs are connected to the main body via ball joints
• Upper leg / thigh is hinged
• Lower leg can swivel and extend
• Back heel piece can fold down
• Rail gun, laser, and radome can swivel
